Hand Reflexology

Hand reflexology works through the reflex points in your hands — and it’s more powerful than most people expect. At ZEST Therapeutic Reflexology in North Abingdon, Oxfordshire, I offer it as a standalone treatment or combined with foot reflexology in a full session. There are several types of reflexology — hand reflexology is one of the most versatile.

What Is Hand Reflexology?

It works on the same idea as foot reflexology. Specific points on your hands map to organs, glands, and other systems in the body. When I apply pressure to those points, it sends signals through the nervous system that can ease tension and encourage the body to function better.

The reflex points on feet are larger and a bit easier to read. But your hands give me access to all the same systems. For people who find foot work uncomfortable — whether that’s due to sensitivity, an injury, diabetes, or peripheral neuropathy — hand reflexology is a brilliant alternative.

Benefits of Hand Reflexology

  • Stress reduction — Quiets the nervous system. Many clients feel calmer within the first few minutes
  • Pain relief — Eases tension in the hands, wrists, and arms — really helpful if you deal with repetitive strain
  • Better circulation — The pressure work gets blood moving through the hands and beyond
  • Headache & migraine relief — Certain reflex points can take the edge off head pain
  • Sinus relief — Your fingertips map directly to the sinuses, so I can target those areas
  • Accessibility — A great option when foot treatment isn’t possible or you’d simply prefer hand work
  • Self-care between sessions — I’ll teach you simple hand techniques to use at home between appointments

When Is Hand Reflexology Recommended?

There are quite a few situations where hand reflexology works particularly well:

  • Foot sensitivity or injury that makes foot reflexology uncomfortable
  • Mobility issues that make it hard to get shoes and socks off or to position the feet comfortably
  • As part of a Complete Reflexology session (90 minutes)
  • During pregnancy, when swollen feet make hand work a more comfortable option
  • Office workers dealing with hand and wrist strain from keyboards and mice

Hand Reflexology at ZEST

I often include hand work in my Complete Reflexology sessions, where I combine foot, hand, and facial reflexology across a full 90 minutes. If you’d like a session focused specifically on your hands, just let me know when you book and I’ll shape the treatment around you.
